The world stainless association released figures for the first three months of 2023 showing that stainless steel melt shop production decreased by 5.0% year–on–year to 13.7 million metric tons.

World crude steel production for the 63 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 158.8 million tonnes (Mt) in June 2023, a 0.1% decrease compared to June 2022.
